The project

Elise Hall Editions was founded with the purpose of offering carefully revised editions of works that are already part of the saxophone repertoire, but often lack an accessible edition. In the field of classical saxophone, it is common to perform transcriptions of works originally written for other instruments, especially strings. Many of these scores circulate among performers and are frequently played, but they have not always been prepared with the editorial attention that allows for clear, coherent, and musically well-founded readings. This publishing house was born from this need. We also seek to create new arrangements that continue to expand and enrich the saxophone repertoire.

Who am I?

My name is Asun Ortiz, and I am a saxophonist and violinist. This dual training allows me to tackle the arrangements with a unique perspective, encompassing both the original writing and the saxophone's real possibilities. Each edition is rigorously designed, seeking to convey the musical essence of the original work into a saxophone-friendly language, without sacrificing expressiveness or technical clarity.

Elise Hall Editions aims to be a useful tool for performers who wish to enrich their repertoire with reliable, accessible, and musically sound versions of works already recognized for their artistic value. The publisher's name pays tribute to Elise Hall (1853-1924), American saxophonist and patron, a key figure in the history of the classical saxophone. Her visionary drive, commissioning works from composers such as Debussy and Caplet, is the inspiration that gives meaning to this project: to contribute to the growth of the saxophone repertoire with judgment, respect, and passion.
